National Trust Partnership
Founded in 1895, the National Trust looks after special places in England, Wales and Northern Ireland for everyone to enjoy. As Europe’s largest conservation charity, the trust preserves sites including coastlines, forests, woods and islands. Additionally, the charity protects archaeological remains, villages, historic houses, gardens, and one of the world’s largest art collections.
As proud custodians of historic decoration, Little Greene undertake an ongoing programme of research. This research enables us to discover, reformulate, and publish original paint colours and bygone recipes. Our commitment extends to the care and conservation of the properties in which the colours were originally used.
With more than 500 places in the National Trust’s care, including some of the most significant historic interiors in the country, this collaboration enables Little Greene to delve into an eclectic mix of decorative styles.
Since early 2018, we have worked with curators and conservators on an extensive paint research project. Undertaken in National Trust houses and gardens, the project uncovers original colours and tells the stories of the people who first enjoyed them.
Little Greene and the National Trust have a real synergy: conservation, restoration and reinvention are at the heart of both organisations.Managing Director, David Mottershead
Our sixth collection of wallpapers created in partnership with the National Trust, ‘In the Garden’ is a celebration of inspirational gardens – both great and small – and some of the founding characters behind them.
Eight eclectic designs have been inspired by formal gardens, humble horticultural collections and historical floral artefacts that have all been loved, cherished and cared for by the National Trust.
Each pattern has been printed in a range of colourways to coordinate with our paint palette, making it simple to create cohesive interior design schemes.

The designs featured within all our National Trust wallpaper collections show judicious use of colour. Our goal is always to bring a contemporary nuance and breathe life into these historic designs. The collections comprise an array of exotic birds, stylised florals and scrolling trails alongside ditsy print florals and large-scale tropical murals.
Explore our wallpapersOur Managing Director, David Mottershead, is thrilled about the relationship: “Little Greene and the National Trust have a real synergy: conservation, restoration and reinvention are at the heart of both organisations. The National Trust preserves centuries of heritage for the benefit of future generations, a sentiment echoed by Little Greene’s approach to the rediscovery and use of historical colour and pattern in the 21st Century.”
Every sale of Little Greene paint contributes to supporting the National Trust's conservation work. In turn, we can ensure that future generations can enjoy the nation’s historic homes and open spaces.
In addition to this, Little Greene supports the National Trust’s conservation and restoration programme by donating paints. This initiative brings colour and life back to some of the UK’s most beloved properties.
